Hermeneutics – 2010
English “dubbed”
8 Lessons
In Acts, when the apostle Paul healed a man in Lystra, the people who saw him thought the gods had descended and called Paul Hermes (Mercurius), “for he was the chief speaker” (Acts 14:12; emphasis added). Based on the same Greek root, “hermeneutics” is the study of the interpretation of the language of a written text. In this course, we will explain the concept that the Bible is the Word of God written in human terms, and we will study what must happen in order to interpret and understand it. Among the many concepts that will be presented about interpretation, we will learn how to study the Bible, the use of language, the difference between sense and meaning, the difference between translation and transliteration, requirements for interpreting, tools for biblical study, and the steps and sequence necessary to study the Scriptures.
