Given that Israel’s first prophet was Moses, understanding his message is the foundation to understanding the rest of the prophets and their message. The message of Moses contained God’s betrothal with His people in Mount Sinai, their unfaithfulness to God, and the judgment decreed for them that would cause them to return to the Lord. This is also the prophet Jeremiah’s message, where he handles the different stages of God’s people: the marriage covenant at Sinai, the great fornication, the divorce, the trials and marriage. The text reveals God’s heart toward His people in working toward the end of writing on them the marriage covenant and joining them with Him eternally despite their prior unfaithfulness. As we will see in this course, our position after being born again is that we are citizens of Israel. Therefore, the message given in this book is also directed to us, and studying it will help us understand the events that the prophets announce and understand why the events that are coming for the people of Israel will come.
