The Priesthood – 2012
The foundation of the study of the priesthood is found in chapters 28 and 29 of the book of Exodus. As we read the tabernacle’s description, we notice that both before and after mentioning the priesthood, the Lord mentions the bronze altar (Exodus 27) and the altar of incense (Exodus 30), for without an altar there is no priesthood; and an altar without a priest is useless.
Something similar to this that is also linked to the topic of the priesthood comes up in the New Testament. First Corinthians 12 and 14 describe the gifts of the Holy Spirit and their flow. However, between those chapters is 1 Corinthians 13 that speaks about love, without which we are as a sounding cymbal. For this reason, Paul wrote that we should follow and speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15). It is easier to argue with a person when we know he is wrong, than to show him the truth in love. But we must receive grace from God to know how to speak with our neighbor. In this course, we will focus on the preparation of the priest, his ministry, and what the Lord does with him.
